Marc Jacob’s Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear collection for Louis Vuitton is thick with gathers, rich and ever-so indulgent. He gleans heavy inspiration from the opulent eighties with a nod to Christian Lacroix and his glamorous muse Marie Seznec. There is an unexpected, playful wink to the Playboy Bunny with the models sporting sheers, bunny ears and bows.

Rouching, texture, and volume played a major role on this runway. Jacobs didn’t offer many pants this season, instead making skirt suits and dresses the key looks. But pants were not necessary. The strategically pulled pleats and poufs paired with leggings and powerful, thigh high boots put on the floor a panoply of both the feminine and the masculine.

Sculptural black frocks popping with accents of camel, coral, fuchsia, teal and gold. Important details of this collection are heavy hardware, taffeta, silk charmeuse, tulle, leather, lace, pearls, rouching and shirring. In constant supply were curves, pouf sleeves, and bubble skirts. Our favorite looks are the fussy cocktail dresses and the sexy power suits cut perfectly to exaggerate and flatter the female form.
