We, at HighStreet, LOVE the outdoors. Who doesn’t, really? It is so nice to get away from time to time to experience the crisp mountain air, the dry, sandy deserts, the windy, coastal beach towns, to swim in the sweet, salty ocean and dig our toes into the rich soil of the Earth. It brings us a feeling of content, to immerse ourselves in the natural elements that surround us, like a great embrace.

Being rooted in the Midwest, in a mid-sized city, it is sometimes hard to come into contact with nature on a daily basis. “E Pluribus Venom”

E Pluribus Venom is a compilation of much of the impressive work produced by Shepard Fairey that was presented at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in the summer of 2007.

Literally translating to “Out of Many, Poison”, E Pluribus Venom is an evident play on the U.S Governments motto E Pluribus, Unum (Out of Many, One), which appears on U.S. dollars and coins. According to Fairey, a society will only decline as many become one and individual power is loss. The artwork of E Pluribus Venom is designed to question the symbols and methods of the American machine and the American dream.

Faireys enigmatic use of metaphor, humor, and stimulating graphics through paint, screen print, collage, and stencil reveal an intriguing yet exquisite conclusion.

As you know, we are totally inspired by the Brits. They like to play and experiment… they are not afraid to have fun with design. Every issue is fresh, vibrant and colorful, full of lavish imagery. Mixing high-end products with inexpensive pieces is an area where the English excel. The Livingetc writers are always featuring clever do-it-yourself projects for you to try at home.

Dolan Geiman Panel Paintings

Trained in printmaking plus sculpture and inspired by Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, Dolan Geiman clashes rustic nostalgia with modern urbanity for a fresh, timeless perspective. His panel paintings are hand-painted and printed using acrylic and silkscreen on 100% recycled wood panels, each measuring 12 x 10 inches. All paint is recycled from the City of Chicago’s paint exchange program and silkscreened images are hand-printed with non-toxic, water-based textile inks.

This unique, modestly priced signature artwork is ideal as a group hanging to cover a large wall inexpensively. The Chicago artist describes his pieces as “thick with construction … and occupying a unique space between between folk, collage, and eco-art traditions”.

Their packaging is all made from recycled paper.

All ingredients are sustainably sourced, locally produced, organic, bio-dynamic, and biodegradable.

All products are manufactured with controlled water usage and limited waste by family run businesses in chemically free environments.

The featured Ocean candle has an incredibly cleansing effect when burned. It opens the lungs and cools the skin on contact. Red Flower Candles are loaded with 15% essential oil content, much higher than the standard 2 — 6%. They use a cosmetic grade, natural, soft wax that ensures an even, slow, and clean burn. Average burn time for the large candles is 45 — 50 hours and for the mini’s is 15 hours.
